Bharat Ratna - Bhimsen Joshi... "A TRIBUTE"


In the words of carnatic vocalist Shri Balkrishna Murli... 'Pandit ji has not left us.... he will remain with me in my heart... he will remain with me till my art is alive... May God Bless him'.
Hindustani Vocalist Girija kumari also paid her tribute and said .... 'He is with us in our SURS.. May God give strength to his family'
Prime minister Manmohan singh said that its a great loss to the Nation.
Panditji gave two new raagas... KALASHREE and LALIT BHATIYAAR.
He was also crazy about fast Driving.
He considered his Uttaradhikari to Pt. Jasraj.
In search of Guru, he worked as a servant also.
His album was released at the age of 20 years.

I pay my tribute to Panditji and hope ... milega sur mera tumhara to sur banega hamara.

Pandit Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi (February 4, 1922 - January 24, 2011) was an Indian vocalist in the Hindustani classical tradition. A member of the Kirana Gharana (school), he is renowned for the khayal form of singing, as well as for his popular renditions of devotional music (bhajans and abhangs). He is the most recent recipient of the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, awarded in 2008.
